Q. I don't have a 'player'
or
I am not sure if I have one
installed on my computer?
We
recommend the 'WINAMP' Player for
simple easy to use listening.
You need a MUSIC PLAYER to listen to the radio,
but once you have downloaded the 'player'
you can save it on your computer and you will
never need to download a 'player' again.
click below and download the
'player'
If you're having problems downloading then visit here
Now, all you need to do is
click here and OPEN the stream.
If
you want to download 'REALPLAYER' or
another type of player

about 'Windows Media Player' at the bottom of this page)
----------------------------------
Q. I cannot listen at School
or Work?
The message
says ...
'unavailable stream'
How do I listen?
You
will need to speak to your I.T. department,
the server ports have been blocked at a Firewall.
Ask them to unblock IP address 212.48.126.106
port 8800, and then either click
(Winamp Player) or
click
(RealPlayer) - you will also need to have
the 'Winamp Player' or the 'RealPlayer' for this.
----------------------------------
Q. It says.....
'server full'
How do I listen?
It
takes a little time when a server becomes full,
for the server relay to find another server.
You can wait a few minutes for the relay to
establish a connection, or select a different player
and stream from our back-up servers.
----------------------------------
Q. I don't want to
fill my computer
memory with loads of songs?
Don't
worry - you won't !
The radio system uses something called 'live streaming'
you DO NOT download the music, it is just like listening
to an FM radio station.
The Winamp player will 'buffer' the music like you were
listening to a CD on your computer but the music is still
on the CD.
So even if you have a small computer memory or
if you only have a 56k modem connection you can still listen.
(no music files will be downloaded to your PC)
----------------------------------
Q. What type of music
and songs
do you play?
Your type - All requested records !
All the programmed records are requested from members. Some
members even send us the mp3 for us to play.
So when YOU request a record, it will be played.
We also have specialised 1 hour music slots like the 'eminem'
hour with
Rap Master 'G' and 'tempo' scheduling like 'The Quiet
Storm'.
Schedule
We also promise to mention live 'on air' EVERY dedication
request you ask us to mention. Family members, relatives,
school friends, lovers or just someone you like on the dating
section.
Come on - Let's name names!
(Broadcasting
from different studios
at different times of the day)

Talk to the DJ live on air (more
details)
The DJ will tell you when the lines are open.
When you hear that they are, just ring the Studio.
You can chat 'live' on the radio to our
Presenters and tell them the music you like and what
record you want to listen to.
Our

Q. What is the quality
of
sound like?
FM Quality - FM Radio
We cluster relay now from Germany as well as the
USA.
Broadcasting at a bitrate of 32kbps and 56kbps. Even if
you
have a 56k dial-up modem, you can still listen without it
buffering all the time and it still sounds good.
We also have specialised tech support staff in
both countries keeping an eye on things.
Other networks link to us too, and then re-broadcast
'OPF Radio' on their servers.
If you're not technically minded, look at it this way...
32kbps is nearly FM radio quality.
(Ideal if you have a 56k modem dial-up)
56kbps is FM radio quality.
(Perfect quality for Broadband listeners)
96kbps is CD quality.
----------------------------------
Q. I have a 56k dial-up
Modem
and it keeps buffering?
Slow
connection - Don't worry !
If you only have a 56k modem that dials-up to get on the
Internet, then you will find your 'Winamp' player will BUFFER
the stream and it will keep stopping and starting.
All players 'buffer' the music to your hard-drive and then
play it. When you have a 56k modem connection they usually
only connect at about 48k (never at the full 56k) so trying
to listen to a 56kbps stream on a 48k or less connection
is impossible and thats why it will 'buffer' all the time.
So if you have a small computer memory and you only have
a 56k modem connection you will have problems listening
to the 56kbps.
Now ALL 56k modem users can listen at a lower bitrate of
32kbps without it buffering.
Just
click here and listen at 32kbps.
(Winamp Players only)
----------------------------------
Q. I want to listen
using
'windows media' player
but my computer will not open the live stream file?
Have you got Windows Media Player 7 (or higher) installed on your computer?
click
'Windows Media Player' on the OPF Radio page
....but you will need Windows Media Player 7 or greater.
Or if you want, you can install this
and then when you click WINAMP
it will open up and play in 'Windows
Media Player'
This little program converts 'Winamp pls'
stream files to
'Windows Media Player' wmp files
If you just want to upgrade your 'Windows
Media Player' to WMP 9 then you can get 'Media
Player 9' here
That's it.....
You can now listen using Windows Media Player.
Test it now just 'click'
windows media player again.
Any
problems just post a message on the board under the 'OPF
Radio' topic and the Moderator will answer you.
To make Windows Media Player your
default media player:
Open up the Windows Media Player application.
Click on Tools > Options.
Click on the "File Types" tab.
Check the boxes for "Windows Media File (asf)", "Windows Media Audio file (wma)", and "Windows
Media Video file (wmv)".
Click "Apply" and then "Ok".
----------------------------------
Q. I have a web site
'my own pages'
Can I link the radio on it?
Yes, of course you can.
You can offer your visitors
the option to listen and request records.
This is explained in full on this page
